New Products!

I am very excited to announce a bunch of new products! I have 2 new hats, a head warmer and a new flower! I am also finding new colors to add to my inventory all the time. I will try and keep these as updated as possible, but if there is a color you would like that you don't see contact me and we'll see what we can do!

This is a picture of all of my flowers.

As you can see we have a little bit of everything!

My newest flower is a 3 layer flower with a very tight center. It is tight enough it does not require anything in the center to help cover the clip! This flower can be done in the large size out of the heavy cotton yarn, regular yarn or the light weight cotton. The heavy cotton yarn and regular yarn qualify as a large flower and the light weight cotton would be a medium flower.

This is my head warmer. I am very excited about being able to add this to my collection! The Toddler/Medium size will fit 1-3 years in age. The 2 Children sizes are Large for 4-11 and X-Large for 12+.

It is a fun and versatile wide headband. From adults to...

even teenagers!

It measures up to 6" wide.

This is one of my new hats patterns, "Spring Fling Beanie"

It is worked on a bigger hook then my original hat. That gives it a looser weave so it is light enough to wear even in the middle of the summer!

This is my second new hat pattern. "Lace & Scallops"

This first of the 2 new hat patterns that I did. Emma wore it all day and I kept asking her if she was okay only to get the same, "I'm fine!" It is also worked on a bigger hook to keep it nice and loose. Another thing I like about both of these hats is the top is just solid enough to keep the sun off of little heads!

I have really enjoyed working on these new products. I hope you like them. I have a few more things in the works that are really great photo props. As soon as I have some pictures I'll get those posted as well!

Newest Headband!

My cousin came to me a few weeks ago and told me about a headband she had seen. It was really cute but there were a few things about it she didn't like and wanted to see if I could improve it. I always get a little nervous when I am doing something new. But I hadn't been thinking about it long when a picture started to form in my mind! This is what we came up with!
It is done with two strands of the lighter weight cotton. The benefit to this is that it can be done in one solid color or two different colors!

The flower is the "Rose." It buttons on the bottom directly across from the flower. I hand sew the flower to the headband so that it can still be washed.

It was alot of fun to do and I think it turned out really cute!

The cost will be $10.

What A Difference A Picture Can Make!

I am so lucky to know a number of people who are amazing photographers! I have done a few photos of my stuff and I'm sure you can tell which ones! Well not only do I know these photographers but some of them have been willing to help me out. Well it is only fair that I give them each the credit that they deserve!

She is a wonderful photographer who has done photos of my family in the past and has been so wonderful and willing to help me out with pictures. We are actually getting ready to do a whole photo shoot! She lives in Northern Utah and you can find out more about her and see more of her work by visiting her blog!
The cute model is my niece Emily who, I think, is looking just a little too grown up! But that may be because she is just getting too grown up!

This photo was done by my cousin Mitch Perkins. Mitch is so talented and we all wish he had more time to devote to his budding Photography Business. Photography was something I was able to watch him develop even in high school and he is only getting better. He lives in the Salt Lake Valley and I can get you information if you would like! We keep telling him he needs to start a blog so people can see some of his wonderful work. But with working, going to school and being a daddy & husband he is still working on it! We'll get him there and as soon as he does I will put a link in so you can contact him!
The model is his niece Addison. Who gave her best smiles just for me!

This sweet photo (and many others you have seen on this blog) were done by a cute family in my neighborhood, the Noble's. Mostly mom (Nova) & daughter (Sarah). They were some of my first customers and have been very helpful in my getting things going! The photos that mother and daughter (who is only 11 by the way!) have done for me have been so wonderful! I can only imagine the kind of photographer Sarah will be when she is older! If and when there is information for her I will be sure to pass it on!

This model is Nova's niece.

She is at their house alot and so I have gotten to know her some. She is as adorable as she looks!

Flowers: Sizes and Colors!

With my new rose flower there are so many options for flowers there may be too many!

This is the large rose. It is my largest flower and measures about 4in. across!

This one was done out of worsted weight cotton (the same cotton I do the hats and heavy headbands out of). It can be done out of the cotton and regular yarn and will end up about this size. Please remember the sizes are approximate. Different yarn can change the size some.



This is my original flower. I think it looks most like a daisy!

The white one is a large and measures 3 and 1/2in. across.

The tan one is a medium single layer and measures 2 and 1/2in. across.

The are both out of the worsted weight cotton same as the rose above. They can also be done in any regular yarn.

Worsted weight cotton colors:

Pink, White, Tan, Black, Brown, Purple, Pastel Print (it is a white background with little bits of pastel color) and Shades of Lavender.

Regular yarn colors:

Pink, Dark Pink, Bright Pink, Teal, Grey, Sage Green, Yellow & Red.

These are more original flowers. The difference with the ones above is they are done in the crochet cotton instead of the worsted weight cotton. This is the same cotton my light weight headbands are done in. This changes not only the size but the texture as well. As you may notice the 4 flowers are 4 different sizes. This change comes from the size hook that I use to crochet them. They are all considered a medium double layer flower.

Small: 2 and 1/4in. across

Medium: 2 and 1/2in. across

Large: 2 and 3/4in. across

XLarge: 3in. across

This is the rose done in the light weight crochet cotton.

It measures 3in. across.

These last ones are my smallest flowers.

They are my original flower done in the light weight cotton.

The flower its self measures 1 and 3/4in. across. From tip of flower to end of clip measures about 2 and 1/2in.

When I very first started I did this flower to cover the whole clip. I would have to stretch it and I didn't like how the ended up looking. I quit doing them for a little bit because I didn't want to put something out there that I was not happy with. It was one of those problems that kept rolling around in my mind until I came up with this! I didn't want to stop doing the little ones because they are so cute in a little ones hair! I can FINALLY get 2 little piggy's in my 19MO and these are so cute!

Light weight cotton colors:

Red, Rose, White, Tan, Black, Brown, Navy Blue, Lime Green, Sage Green, Yellow, Light Pink (this pink looked like a beautiful pastel pink in the store. I have found in different light it can take on a peachy color), Light Teal & Dusty Blue.
If there is a color you would like and do not see it listed please ask. I may be able to find it! I am also working on getting pictures of all the colors I have.

A New Flower - The Rose!

In the middle of getting ready for the boutique a friend gave me a pattern for a new flower, a rose. I didn't have time to work on it until now. I am having so much fun with it and I think everyone is really going to like it!

This is the rose done in the light weigh crochet cotton.

That is the same same cotton that I use for the light weight headbands.

It measures about 3in. across.

This is the rose I did in worsted weight cotton.

That is the same cotton that I use for the hats and heavy headbands.

It measures about 4in across.

This is the sweet baby that I baby sit! I tried the hat and flower on her for fun the other day and she looked so cute I had to take a picture to show her mommy! My friend agreed with me and said I could use her as a model!

The flower is as big as the hat but looks so cute! This is a small sized hat to give you an idea.

Boutique!

Saturday May 1st I had my first boutique! I will be honest, it didn't go as well as I had hoped. However, I did learn alot. I wanted to be able to be with the booth. After we got everything all set up and people started coming through I felt really in the way. The way we set up there really wasn't some place for us to be that wasn't in the way. It would have been nice to be there for those that had questions and out of the way of the people that didn't want to talk. I also should have had pictures in addition to the displays. It is important to have the displays but I think it would have helped for people to be able to see what they look like on people!

It was interesting to me how much business I did while I was cleaning up my booth. I had a lady buy a headband and 4 flowers from me! And when I told her the headbands were machine washable her eyes nearly popped out of her head! Live and learn, right?!

I am working on a flip photo album to have at things like this so if have things I have done for you and you wouldn't mind me using the pictures for something like this I would really appreciate it!

Flowers!

Flowers are where you can really go crazy! I keep my headbands and hats pretty neutral and basic. But I do all of my flowers on clips so that you can mix and match. I can put different colors together upon request to give you a custom unique look. With the flowers we are only limited to the yarn we can find and your imagination!

Light Headbands!

When we started approaching spring my mom suggested trying a headband that would be better for summer. We started the experimenting again and the result was this lighter weight headband. They have been alot of fun and I love putting my girls in them!

They are great for holding the hair back and the weave makes it easy to put clips in.

They close in the back with buttons like the heavy headbands so as their head grows you can loosen the headband so it will last a little longer!

These work really well for all ages. I have done some for Newborns and I even wear them!

Heavy Headbands!

This winter I started seeing the cute wide headbands all over. But the had all been done by knitting. I don't knit! So the search was on for a pattern to crochet a headband! I found this one by M.E.H. Designs.It took me a little bit to get the sizing down just right. The first one I did for my 4YO actually fits me! But now that we have that down they are really fun!

They can be worn behind the ear as a headband or over the ears as a head warmer. Fashion and function all in one!

Hats!

I found this cute hat pattern by Lucinda Schafer and have had a ton of fun with it! I added the scalloped edge and the hat can be done with or without it.

One Thing Leads to Another!

My name is Brook Collins I love to crochet. It is something my mom tried and tried to teach me when I was young but it wasn't until I had 2 children and was in need of inexpensive baby gifts that I really learned. It all started with burp clothes and blankets! When I got one thing mastered I would add another. For years I have wanted to try the cute hats I had been seeing every where I went and this last summer I finally did. I plan on continuing to add things so watch the blog for those!
